Lost & Found
Lost and Found is a multimedia project: part side specific installations, part video and photography. It's story takes place at the 200 year old farm Upstate, NY, which is very atmospheric and secluded. It holds a collective history of generations that were born, lived and died on that land. The fields, lake, and woods still hold the emotional DNA of the past.
In Japan, there is a certain magic associated with stitching: the act of enclosing a body in cloth is rich in meaning and stitched garments are believed to hold power. In my work, I’m telling the story of this land through vintage pieces of clothing I embroider with encrypted stories. I use this clothing as the major props and characters in my film.
